The basement level contains a fabulous home theatre with 120” motorized screen, custom Runco projector, THX certified 7.1 Dolby surround sound, four leather motorized theatre seats on a raised platform, with plenty of room for a sectional or other seating in front of the theatre seats.

The remainder of the basement includes a “Costco” storage closet, another large storeroom that also houses the theatre, security and cable equipment for the home; through this storeroom is access to the crawlspaces under the remaining portion of the house.  A furnace room, under the stairs storage and a media storage room (shelves sized for DVD/CD storage) complete the basement.  The mechanicals were upgraded in 2014 to include endless hot water; a new Lenox humidified furnace and air conditioning units; and solar panels on the southern and western facing rooflines by Solar City, which includes a guarantee on the roof itself, a fixed rate on the utilities from Excel, and a substantial reduction in the operational cost of owning the home.

The theatre is carpeted in wool Berber carpet.  The front of the room boasts a raised, wooden stage for live performances and has optional live theatre track lighting.  Behind the stage is a door to the “back stage” area – a “green room,” craft room or schoolroom including a chalkboard wall, peninsula countertop with multi colored pendant lights, built in shelves and cabinets, an artist’s working sink, a closet for theatre costumes (or extra storage), and a ¾ bathroom.
